U ganda and Rwanda are the lands of mountains, mist and gorillas. These green hills are home for the largest primates in Africa. Both of these countries have unique histories and beautiful landscapes.
From the hills of the Bwindi Forest National Park, home to several troops of gorillas that call these lush hills home.
North east, between lake Edward and Lake Albert lies the spectacular Queen Elizabeth National Park. With unique wildlife experiences and opportunities.

Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is located in the southwestern part of Uganda on the rim of the Rift Valley
-
This is a UNESCO world heritage site
-
Ancient and very biologically varied rainforests in Uganda that dates back to more than 25,000 years, comprising of about 400 varied plant species.
-
The word “Bwindi” means “darkness”
-
impenetrable forest” in addition protects an predictable 320 population of mountain gorillas – approximately half of the population in the world
-
346 bird species and more than 200 butterfly species, about 324 species of trees, ten of which are only found in this area of Uganda.

Apart from the gorillas, 9 other primates are found in the area.

Gorilla trekking, kayaking, bird watching










Kigali in Rwanda is the closest city to drive through to, this is 4hrs.
Best time to visit is December to February as well July and August.
Easy to combine with either chimpanzee trekking or even Zanzibar.
You will be able to spend a day walking in the green hills of the forest in search of gorilla families. Spend time following them as they forage through the mountains.

QENP occupies an estimated 1,978 square kilometres (764 sq mi).

The park is known for its abundant wildlife, including lion, elephant, buffalo, Ugandan kob, leopard and chimpanzees

The park is home to 95 mammal species and over 600 bird species

District is famous for its tree-climbing lions, whose males often sport black manes
-
The park is also famous for its volcanic features, including volcanic cones and deep craters, many with crater lakes that hold water full of life.

About a 6.5 hour drive to the capital of Kampala.
Best time to visit is January and February as well as June to August
Easy to combine in a road trip with Bwindi Forest in the south or even Zanzibar Island

Afrikaans word for ´dead-end marsh or in Nama language it means no return.

This is a salt and clay pan located in the Namib Desert
-
Often used as a name for the surrounding areas as well. This includes the dead vlei and other high dunes.
-
Iconic high pink and red dunes that flow into the areas, created by the winds that shape and carve the landscape.
-
Having some of the highest dunes in the world with most of them being over 200m high. ´Big daddy´ is just over 300m high. Dune No. 7 has been recorded at 388m high.

With vast tempreture ranges. During the day it can 40´c plus and at night can drop it below 10´c
-
Small mammals, reptiles and insects have adapted to the climate and can be found roaming the dunes.

Hiking and hot air balloon










About 5 hours drive from Windhoek or Swakopmund
Best time to visit is in the drier months between April and October.
Easy to combine in a road trip with Skeleton Coast and Ethosha or even Ka
Hiking on the dunes provides some epic shots and how about trying out a hot air balloon experience over the desert

It was first proclaimed a protected area in 1966. However was a restricted area for many years after until 1989 when boarder protection forces where removed from the area. The national Park was proclaimed in 2007.

The end of the strip is surround by the Zambezi river as well as the Chobe Game reserve in Botswana. With no fences surrounding majority of the area, this means there are high volumes of game moving through when move between all 4 countries that converge in this area.

Elephants are prolific in this area and are a highlight of this area. Which use this area as a migratory route between these countries.

Sable and Roan antelope can also be seen in herds here.

About 8 hours drive from Etosha or coming from Botswana, or a few hours coming from Zambia or Botswana
Best time to visit is in the drier months between June and September
Great to combine on a road trip from the Kasungula area with Botswana and Zambia and also Moremi in Botswana
Great wildlife destination if you like to be close to the Zambezi River with the option of doing boat safaris
